School Holidays

The school holidays are almost upon us, for some they may have even started. I am looking forward to them. At least I always start off looking forward to them. Full of anticipation about what we are going to do, and the fun we will have, and the places we will visit.

J gets 3 weeks off, he works at a university so can take longer over the holidays, which I am always grateful for. We have a few things planned, like a break to Cornwall, and a camping trip with our church. I will also be planning in some play dates for the boys, and some nights out with friends for me. There was a time not so long ago, when I didn’t quite appreciate this planning ahead with children malarkey. Some other friends did, and I couldn’t really understand why they weren’t a bit more impromptu. The truth is when you have a couple of kids to entertain of differing ages, and your eldest is used to being at school, you need to have something in place, so that mainly they don’t drive you up the wall! Summer holidays can also be so costly so it’s important to find stuff to do that won’t bankrupt you by the end of the holidays.

We try to have a more expensive day out, so somewhere like a theme park, and to be honest if possible in the past I have paid for this with Tesco vouchers. I tend to save mine up now for this time of year, you can go to some great places, last year we visited Legoland and Longleat.

I want to enjoy the holiday time with BB and LP, I don’t want to constantly be telling them not to do things.

I would love to hear your holiday time tips, do you plan, have you got any ideas for days out, or those more tricky rainy days in? Please feel free to share as many as you would like, I need inspiration!

  1. It’s hard when you’re children are different ages isn’t it. My son’s 8 and my daughter’s 10 months so they don’t like anything similar haha. I’m planning trips to parks, museums which are free or that we have season passes to, as well as a couple of places further afield. Hope you have a good summer! #fortheloveofBLOG

  2. Happy summer holidays! Luckily I don’t have to plan for them yet as my daughter is only 2 but we do go to my parents house for a week in the summer as it’s a cheap holiday for us. Thanks for linking up to #fortheloveofblog
